Welcome to Behavior Change Consulting

 Behavior Change Consulting Institute (BCC) is a 501(c)(3) organization focused on providing customized, evidence-based training in Motivational Interviewing (MI), particularly as tailored for marginalized and stigmatized populations. Our core strength lies in integrating Anti-Racist health practices and principles that are based on Antiracist Multicultural Orientation (AMCO) to enhance equity and effectiveness in behavioral health. BCC continues to collaborate with academic partners to conduct leading-edge research in MI-based behavior change approaches, teaching and implementing MI within organizations across the globe.

WHAT IS MI?

Motivational interviewing is an evidence-based communication approach for addressing behavior change.  

Motivational interviewing has been shown to be even more effective with health disparity populations and allows for flexibility across health behaviors, settings and disciplines.

Motivational interviewing training can be customized to the needs of the provider allowing these techniques to be applied to a diverse variety of practices by anyone willing to learn.  

WHAT IS AMCO?

Anti-Racist Multicultural Orientation (AMCO) focuses on "ways of being" with diverse clients by focusing on three pillars:

  1. Cultural Humility - A lifelong process of self-reflection, self-critique, continual assessment of power imbalances, and the development of mutually respectful relationships and partnerships.
  2. Cultural Comfort - Relates to YOUR feelings of being at ease that arise before, during, and after culturally relevant conversations with clients.
  3. Cultural Opportunities - Markers that occur in any interaction with clients in which their cultural beliefs, values, or other aspects of the client's cultural identity could be explored.
